Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Misyrlena is a Politics reporter for Bloomberg News based in Washington, DC. She's currently covering Elizabeth Warren and the 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

Misyrlena first joined Bloomberg News in 2017 as an intern covering Martin Shkreli's criminal fraud trial in New York and has since written about corporate finance, currencies and real estate. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Misyrlena spent a year in California covering immigration as part of her master's degree at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. Her investigative piece on immigrant children appearing in California courts without lawyers was published in The Atlantic on August 2018. 

 

Misyrlena started her career in journalism as an intern for CNN International in Hong Kong and later for Al Jazeera English in Washington, DC. After graduating from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, she worked as a Production Assistant for ABC News in Washington, DC. Misyrlena moved back to Greece in 2014 to cover the Refugee Crisis and the Greek Financial Crisis as a TV reporter for the Greek news network ALPHA TV.

Misyrlena has multimedia experience in journalism, including writing, video shooting and editing, TV reporting and animation.
